覚えておきたい表現・フレーズ
I’m very well, thank you very much. とても元気です → How are you? への丁寧な返し方の定番(これまでも登場)。
Have you noticed that it’s not summer anymore? もう夏じゃないって気づいた? → notice that ~(〜に気づく)。
the weather’s getting a little bit cooler 天気が少し涼しくなってきている → get + 比較級(だんだん〜になる)。
make big piles of leaves 落ち葉の大きな山を作る → a pile of ~(〜の山)。
I love all of these autumnal colours. こういう秋らしい色が大好き → all of these ~(こうした〜全部)。
I want to be warm and cosy. 暖かくて居心地よくいたい → warm and cosy(暖かくて心地良い)はセットでよく使う。
I’ve had enough of summer. 夏にはもう十分だ、飽きた → have had enough of ~(〜にうんざりしている)。
I welcome the autumn this year. 今年は秋を歓迎する(嬉しく思う) → welcome(歓迎する、喜んで受け入れる)。
It’s not as popular in the UK as it is in the USA. イギリスではアメリカほど人気がない → not as ~ as …(…ほど〜ではない)の比較表現。
we stand around the fire 火の周りに立つ → stand around ~(〜の周りに立つ)。
I can’t remember the last time I did a bonfire. 最後に焚き火をしたのがいつだったか覚えていない → the last time ~(最後に〜した時)。
toasting marshmallows マシュマロを焼く → toast(火であぶる、焼く)。
you wrap the potato in foil じゃがいもをアルミホイルで包む → wrap ~ in foil(〜をホイルで包む)。
That doesn’t sound very tasty to me. それは私にはあまり美味しそうに聞こえない → sound + 形容詞(〜のように聞こえる)。
It’s difficult to get it right. うまくやるのは難しい → get it right(うまくやる、正しくやる)。
特に使えそうな3つ(重点復習)
- I’ve had enough of ~ – 〜にはもう十分だ、飽きた
- not as ~ as … – …ほど〜ではない
